Gavin Newsom is traveling throughout California, touting his record in San Francisco as a reason why he’s prepared to lead the state as governor.
Close observers of San Francisco government know that Gavin Newsom has been an ineffective manager, leader, and absentee Mayor.
Unfortunately, when Gavin Newsom hosts his town hall meetings or fundraising events outside of San Francisco, he’s hardly challenged or asked hard questions.
If you listen to Gavin Newsom’s stump speech, all you’ll hear is a revisionist story of his successes that are quite literally built on other people’s work.
You’ll also hear catchy words like “green,” “bold,” “courageous,” and “change” that sound nice in a stump speech.
In fact, when you dig a little bit into his record, you’ll discover that Gavin Newsom is:
– NOT an environmental leader but a tool of development interests
– NOT a progressive Democrat but a tool of corporate interests
– NOT a change-agent but a status-quo politician
– NOT a political outsider but a wealthy and well-connected politician
– NOT a strong executive but an absentee Mayor
– NOT an inspiration to young people as many refused to endorse him
If you think these issues won’t be asked about by voters, the media, and other critics within and outside his own political party, then you’re living on Gavin’s Fantasy Island.
If you’re evaluating Gavin Newsom’s record and credentials, read this blog. You might even consider asking Gavin some real questions at his next town hall meeting.
